My End Table Trunk

So I scored this awesome trunk at an antique store for $10!

So, I loved the chest but I wanted to brighten it up a bit because I wanted it to match the things I'm taking to college with me. Most everything in my hope chest is pastel and vintage. So my game plan was color. I also wanted to elevate the trunk off the ground and make it into an end table/storage space. So I went to Lowes, my go-to place, and bought legs, top plates, pastel green spray paint, and light brown paint. So, mix it all together with a borrowed stencil and...  The Reveal!

And now I am totally in love with it! :) It sits at the foot of my bed and is the new home for all of my craft supplies! I am planning on designing a small bed side table to match! Plus I love how easy it was, it ended up taking me awhile because I was slow figuring out exactly how I wanted it to look. But now, I could do it in like two days if I wanted to (cause of dry time)

  1. Super cute. I did a suitcase like this but had trouble with the legs being unstable. I should have put some wood inside mine for the leg screws to get a better grip on, but this looks like maybe it's already good and sturdy. I'd love to see the matching piece if you get it made. Hope you'll stop over and see me a quirky vistas!

    1. Thank you! Mine is pretty sturdy, it could be stronger... However, I heard that angled top plates work like a charm! Gives alot more stability! Unfortunately, when I bought my top plates I had already bought my legs and they wouldn't work with angled ones. I definitely will try them next time though! Thanks for stopping by, I will absolutely return the favor!:)

  2. Wow, I have that same trunk and I just finished turning it into craft storage! I had to paint the inside cause it wasn't in such good shape. Good idea about adding some legs, I might do that ...or add some wheels

  3. What a great upcycle! Love the color, the stencil and especially the legs. Next time I see one of these, I just might have to bring it home.
