DIY Chalkboard Frame

So lately everyone has been going on and on about their new chalkboards, which are all adorable. The other day while perusing through the aisles of Home Depot, I spotted chalkboard spray paint! I had never heard of it before! So I called my awesome sister-in-law to ask how legit it was and she said it has four stars on Amazon! So I naturally grabbed it up! Then I got to thinking... What in the world am I going to use this on? A few months ago I had one of my favorite photo frames broken by my best friend (which she vehemently denies, but I was there and saw it happen!) ANYWAYS, I pulled it out of the craft chest and behold! It would work perfectly. So here's the gist of the fun-

broken frame beforehand-

I first sanded down the glass and then primed it before I added the chalkboard spraypaint. You have to wait 24 hours before playing with it... I added three coats of spray paint :) {not including primer}

Then I hot glued everything together...

Then I had exactly what I wanted! A mini chalkboard! It will be on the wall with the two other matching rectangle frames I have around it in no time. I love the way it turned out.I doodled on it for about an hour after I was finished! :)

So as of next Thursday my SUMMER STARTS! and with that, two immediate huge projects and a plethora of small ones! Maybe I can actually get enough stuff going to start showing people my blog! :O That'd be nice.. Anyways, I went and bought white primer, chalkboard paint, and I checked out some stencil choices... Keep that in mind- you might want to check back in in a week or so.. Who knows, maybe by then I will have a good idea! Wish me luck!
For the heck of it,

here's my baby <3

My 30 Day Photography Challenge

I found this baby on Pinterest the other day and couldn't resist! I love a good challenge.
Now the true challenge will be remembering and posting everyday! Which I am going to do through edits because, well, 30 separate posts seems a bit extensive to me... We'll see how this goes down! :) Hopefully it turns out awesome. So tomorrow we will start because I just can't bring myself to take a self portrait without the help of a little sunshine... Oh! Now that I mention it, for those of you who are interested, it truly helps if you take a self portrait in natural light. (When I do take photos of myself {which is a very rare thing} I make sure to be near a window or outside.) Natural light does wonders for the complexion rather than harsh I-swear-that-zit-wasn't-there-earlier bathroom lighting. Anywho, tomorrow shall be kickoff day for the challenge. We shall see how well I keep up with it. Wish me luck!!

CHALLENGE ONE: self-portrait

mission accomplished.
It took forever to take because my tripod is lost in limbo and no one was willing to take it for me! But here it is, a few days late. Unedited. :)

CHALLENGE TWO: what you wore today

Not my cutest look, but I go to school in a school uniform so after I just want to be cozy! No judgement, please. All I did when I got home was play videogames anyways. This is my gamer uniform. As you can tell, it is indeed unedited... didn't even clean the mirror for you! Sorry!

CHALLENGE THREE: clouds

Clouds! Double whammy! This photo was taken in South Padre, TX around Thanksgiving... So it's been awhile... But honestly, the clouds have been super wimpy around here lately! (Just when I need them to be awesome! :/ jipped!) So I am going to cheat and use it! As usual, no edits!

CHALLENGE FOUR: something green

Something green? Ish? I love this photo! But maybe I'm biased since I find him positively adorable... This one, I must admit I put through picmonkey.. I edited it just a but adding some 'yester-color' and I think a bit of 'boost'. Anywho, good times!
CHALLENGE FIVE: from a high angle

Meet Charli, the bigest pain in the bahookie, erm, the cutest little puppy ever! She is a crazy little thing and very rarely stays still enough for me to take a photo of her, or at least a good one, she usually is a little blur! But she is very loved :) As you can tell, this is not edited in the least bit... I wish it was...

CHALLENGE SIX: from a low angle

Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3!

My name is Meredith and I have recently discovered that I have been sucked into the Vortex of Doom (AKA the Blogoshpere) so with the help of my rockstar sister-in-law (who is an awesomely accomplished blogger domesticimperfections.com! Go check her out!) I am going to launch myself into the world of blogs. Be gentle, guys. I expect my first real post in a day or two, but don't hold me to that- I do have a life.. Kind of... Well, I have homework. Lot's of it... Does that count? ...Didn't think so. *sigh.

So, as my first post I find it only appropriate that I give you my game-plan for this blog! Pretty much, I hope to have some crafting tutorials, some photography posts, and well... Whatever else I feel like! I am a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of gal so if I gave you some strict structure for this, it would probably be a lie. Pretty lame game-plan now that I'm looking at it... Oh well, I have an idea in my head, you'll just have to wait to see it! Anywho, thanks for checking me out! I hope I don't totally drop the ball on this one- I guess we will see, eh? Fingers crossed.

Until Next Time, Blog On!
Meredith

P.S. The posts will get longer and more purpose filled then this one, I pinky promise! I just don't have quite enough material. We shall dub this Trial Post.. Or maybe Crap, Let's Get Started Already! ...I'm leaning towards the latter.
